Journal 7: Birds of a Feather

     My best friends personality are everybody different. One of my best friends is very extrovert. He always goes to a party, drink a lot of alcohol and sing a song in Karaoke. I don’t want to go to party everyday, don’t want to drink too much and don’t like to sing a song, but we go to somewhere together and we can enjoy the time.

     On the other hand, another best friend has similar personality to me. We are not so extrovert. We don’t go outside a lot. We have some same hobby such as TV-game, comic and scuba diving.

     However, these people are both my best friends. I think we have one big same thing that is a “sense of value”. The “sense of value” means priority. The “sense of value“ helps us to understand each other. I think if these priorities are different, we cannot be best friend, so I think hobbies and personality are not so important to become best friend; the important thing is the “sense of value.”

Journal 6: Dr Dolittle

     I think if animals could talk, that situation would made negative effect and positive effect. The negative effect is that we difficult to eat meat because when we kill some animals such as cow or pig for eating, they beg for their lives. In that situation, to kill them is very difficult for us. On the other hand, a veterinary surgeon will be happy because their patients (pets) can talk about their condition and easy to give medicines.

     I want to talk my pets especially my dog. My dog is Labrador Retriever and she is 14 years old. She is a very long life as a large-sized dog so I think she will live only a few years after. I want ask her wish and grant her wish but I think she will talk only foods… she is so greedy about foods…

Journal 5: Life's Soundtrack

     My favorite song is "Easy come easy go" that is sung by B'z. B'z is one of the most famous musicians in Japan. They were selected to be the first Asian honored in the Hollywood Rock Walk Hall of Fame in 2007. When I listened this song for the first time, I didn't feel anything. I didn’t dislike the song but I didn’t like the song but I entered the song to my iPod and start to listen this song. I don’t know the reason even now. This song's title means that when you get something easily, the something will leave easily from your hands. This song makes me relax when I'm really nervous or confused; especially, I have some big tasks. After I listen this song, I can re-coordinate my idea and start the tasks. When you have some free time, please listen this song. I think you don’t need to know Japanese.

Journal 4: Weather

My favorite weather is autumn because temperature is mild. Japan has big differences each seasons. For example, Japanese temperature increases to 35 degrees Celsius(95 degrees Fahrenheit) in summer; however, the temperature decrease to 0 degrees Celsius(32 degrees Fahrenheit) in winter. This data is Tokyo's temperature. If you go to more north side, the temperature become lower. If you to more south side, the temperature become hotter. Therefore, autumn is very easy to live for us. In addition, Japan has so many kinds of delicious foods in autumn such as fish, fruits and mushrooms. We really enjoy these foods. I recommend to you that if you want to come to Japan, you should come on September to November.

Journal 3: Old Fears

I used to be afraid of a “Green Cat.” I think nobody know about Green Cat. Even in Japan, almost nobody knows about the Green Cat. Green Cat is a cartoon movie character. Tezuka Osamu, who is called father of Japanese cartoon, creates this cartoon. He is very famous person in Japan; however, Green Cat is a very minor short movie. I watch this movie in Taiwan because there were so many kinds of Japanese cartoon movie with Chinese subtitle. In the movie, the green cat is looks like cat but when the Green Cat glare at a person, the person will be melted and died, so the true character of Green Cat is a kind of monster. After I watched this movie, I was really afraid of this monster. However, without noticing it, I had forgotten about this fear feeling when I was the upper grade of elementary school student.

Journal 2:New Year Resolution

     I decided a big important resolution on January. That is to reduce my weight. I have to reduce my weight because I increased my weight after came U.S. I came U.S. last May. In Japan, usually I didn’t eat snacks and fast food and I drank Japanese tea or Chinese tea. However, after I came here, I eat high calorie foods, snacks and drink soda. In addition, I hadn’t had the scales so I didn’t check my weight. My uncle gave me the scales on last October. When I checked my weight with the scales, I was shocked; I couldn’t believe my weight. After that I started to diet. Fortunately, I could reduce my weight a little bit but that isn’t enough. I will leave U.S in the first week of March. I think I will not able to reduce my weight until the date so I decide to reduce my weight as resolution of this year. I really hope I will succeed this resolution.

Journal 1: Introduction

     Hi everyone, my name is Motokazu Moritani. Please call me Kazu. I came from Japan on last May because of earthquake. I think everybody know very big earthquake happened in Japan in last year. My parents really worried about influence of radiation. They ordered me and my younger brother that leave from Japan for 1 year. That's why suddenly I had to come here so I asked for a year's leave of absence from my graduate school. However, I'm very enjoying American life so I don't have a regret. I will have to leave U.S. in first week of this March; therefore, I can study with classmates and Mr.Sean only a month. One month is very short but I hope I will enjoy this one month with you guys.
